The Sellers Only Paid For Concrete Cleaning

Home & Garden September 26th, 2009

When we bought our new home about six months ago, we knew that we would have to have some deck restoration done on the two big decks that were in the back of the house. We had tried to get the seller to pay for it, prior to us purchasing the home but they would not do it. The fact that we got them to pay for concrete cleaning on the front drive and the side patio was a miracle in itself.

We figured that we would just have the deck restoration done after winter and then maybe by then, we would be able to have it done right and quickly. I was wrong; the company that I called to come out and look at it told us that they thought that our deck was a little past doing anything to it, to make it look better.

After finding out that maybe we should have asked the sellers to replace the deck instead of having it restored, made us feel really stupid. I cannot help but think that they already knew that and that is why they only agreed to pay for the concrete cleaning. If they would have agreed to pay for the deck restoration, that would have allowed us to find out prior to closing that the whole deck needed to be replaced and that may have been a deal breaker for everyone.
