Waveguide Love Story
There is an old saying about science and beautiful girls; how they never go hand in hand. I’m here to refute that. You must think I’m one of those geeky and nerdy types who got lucky and scored with a hot chick but I’m not that at all.
On the contrary, I’m more of the jock type although I must admit I do have my own “laboratory” at home. But my lab is for practical purposes as I like to experiment on stuff that has something to do with my work. But enough about me and let’s move on to how I met my lovely wife. Michelle was a reporter for a local newspaper when I met her.
One day she was assigned to do an article on practical home-made projects and I was at their office repairing one of their computers. She was practically at wit’s end trying to find a suitable subject. Her colleagues tried to help her out but none of the ideas helped. One of them kiddingly pointed to me and I said what about waveguides? They got intrigued and I told them I was working on building an antenna to boost Wi-Fi signal using homemade stuff with double ridge waveguide components readily available online. Needless to say, my science project got me a date with my future wife.
